UP TO 50 INVOLVED IN FERMOY ROW
It is reported that up to 50 people were involved in a major public disturbance at Emmet Street, Fermoy on Friday night last, May 23.
The disturbance, which occurred at around 11.30pm, resulted in the arrest of three people and a large gardai presence in the area to handle the situation. Two windows were broken at the nearby Spar shop, but nothing was stolen.
The row, which is reported to have started in a nearby bar, seemingly from a misunderstanding over a game of pool, involved between thirty and fifty people. Alcohol consumption is alleged to have contributed to the escalation of the situation, which required the assistance of 10 to 15 gardai.
The parties involved in the incident were said to be from Fermoy and outlying areas. An investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Fermoy garda station.
