VILLAGERS SHOCKED BY TRAGIC FIRE IN RATHCORMAC
The house fire in Rathcormac which claimed the life of an elderly man on Sunday night is believed to have started in the upstairs of the terraced house, across the road from the local garda barracks.
The body of the occupant, Mr Timothy (Tim) Arnold was located at 10.45pm. His remains were removed to Cork University Hospital where a postmortem was conducted by Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Margaret Bolster on Monday.
The alarm was raised at 7.45pm on Sunday night by a passer-by. Fires services and the Gardai who arrived on the scene shortly afterwards, found the two storey house at Canon Street completely engulfed in flames.
