Three giants of jazz will join forces for a sensational theatre show dedicated to Louis 'Satchmo' Armstrong throughout Ireland in March
Showcasing the iconic life and music of world renowned jazz musician Louis Armstrong, Rick Swann (trumpet), Gay McIntyre (clarinet) and John Trotter (trombone) will present an exciting show featuring Armstrong’s most popular tunes.
Trumpeter Rick Swann has made appearances around the UK, Europe and US, and on stages such as London's 'Royal Albert Hall', Belfast's 'Odyssey Arena' and as lead trumpet onboard RMS Queen Mary 2. Linley Hamilton, BBC Radio has described him as "The next golden trumpet player from Northern Ireland".
A veteran of jazz in Ireland and Europe, Derry alto saxophonist and clarinetist Gay McIntyre has maintained a successful career as a musician, with associations ranging from Acker Bilk to Kenny Ball to Louis Stewart.
“Multi Instrumentalist John Trotter is a veteran of the City of Derry Jazz Festival, an expert in Scottish and Irish Traditional Music and a great exponent of Cuban Salsa music, combine this with a great singing voice, and you have a Formidable Musician” Áine McCarron at The Playhouse said.
“For this first class show these fabulous three musicians will team up with a richly talented rhythm section, this show promises to be a night to remember”
‘Satchmo’ will come to The Roe Valley Arts & Cultrual Centre on Friday 8th March at 8pm. Tickets available from The Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre Box Office on 02877760650
