Athenry Tourism in conjunction with the Athenry market traders are holding the first ever Athenry Christmas Market in Market Square, Athenry from Thursday, December 13th to Saturday the 15th.
Athenry town square plays host to an array of craftspeople and local producers, with everything from locally made woollies, jewellery and soaps to vegetables from Heneghan’s Nurseries, and Top Irish Food Producer of the year award winner The Foods of Athenry. Man’s best friend is even catered for with homemade doggie biscuits for sale in support of EGAR (East Galway Animal Rescue)!
After a wander through the market, Athenry Heritage Centre has a very special guest for the younger visitor, Santa Claus. He'll be in residence from the 8th of December as part of the centre's Winter Wonderland.
Just a 15 minute drive from Galway (exit 17 on M6) and with twenty regular trains as well as several private and public buses services daily, there's no excuse to not come and visit The Athenry Christmas Market. The atmosphere promises to be festive and traditional with Christmas carols sung by local school children and choirs.
