CONFIRMATION SOUGHT ON FLOOD RELIEF FUNDING
A story broken by our reporter Joe Leogue in last week’s Avondhu had, it appears, senior planners and engineers spluttering in their coffee last Thursday morning.
He managed to get confirmation from an Office of Public Works source that Fermoy has been granted multi million euro funding for its flood relief plan, a project that promises to save Fermoy from the ravages of flooding.
It seems the Mitchelstown-based journalist was able to access information no one else knows anything about.
Experienced public representative Cllr Aileen Pyne welcomed the news ‘if true’. Cllr Pyne was looking for written confirmation at last Tuesday night’s monthly meeting of Fermoy Town Council, town clerk Ray Owens assured her that the correspondence would be forwarded if and when it was received.
