MITCHELSTOWN FOOD FESTIVAL TO GO AHEAD
Despite ongoing reports to the contrary it seems as if the Mitchelstown Food Festival is to go ahead in August., writes Brian Moore.
The Avondhu learned this week that the event has been provisionally fixed for Sunday, August 29 and, while plans are now underway for the much loved and popular festival at the ‘Home of Good Food’, no other details are, as yet, to hand.
Organiser, Liam O’Doherty told The Avondhu about the plans to date, “We will have another meeting next week where the committee will be announced and we will then be in a position to outline the plans for this year’s festival.”
This will be the seventh year that the event has taken place in Mitchelstown and, while rumours of its demise have turned out to be premature, will the festival organisers have a difficult job to promote the festival this year?
“We don’t think so, the festival is always very popular and we are confident that this year’s Mitchelstown Food Festival will be one to remember,” Mr O’Doherty concluded.
