More shops closing, but parking still an issue in Mitchelstown
With more and more shops closing each month in Mitchelstown, there should be more vacant parking spaces outside the shops and businesses, but according to a number of business people in the town this week, parking is as much a problem as ever.
The problem seems to be around the Lower Cork Street area and up the side streets, as the Square provides ample parking for the shops there and on Upper Cork Street.
The business people said that more and more business owners and employees are parking outside their workplace on days they know the traffic warden will not be around and in turn this means that potential customers might drive on to another town, if they don't find a parking space.
This is something which has been a problem for some time, but if people working in the town parked their cars down one of the side streets during the peak business hours, it could increase business opportunities for some of the retailers and business people in the town.
