BALLYPOREEN SETS THE BALL ROLLING ON ST PATRICKS EVE
Ballyporeen Community Council will once again host its annual St Patrick’s Festival for the village and surrounding areas over the next two days. This year the fun and games kicks off in the GAA grounds on this Wednesday, March 16 at 6.30pm with live music from the Loaded Kings, Monorail and Leanne Dixon.
“We are better prepared this year with three marquees on site, unlike last year when the heavens opened. And, there will be plenty tasty food as well, face painting for the kids and a fireworks display at 9.30pm so people can make it a real family event,” Elaine Harrington, chairperson of the Ballyporeen Community Council, told The Avondhu.
The annual St Patrick’s Day parade will take place on Thursday, March 17 at 3pm in the village. There will be lots of floats and walking groups, and both the Fermoy brass band and Mitchelstown band will feature in the parade. Elaine, said that all support would be greatly appreciated.
“This year we are finding it harder and harder to keep costs down with rising insurance etc. We are kindly asking if you would support us and we intend to list our sponsors on our very popular Facebook page (Ballyporeen Community Council) which is now tapping into people across the world.
“We would be very grateful if you could support us again and hope to see you over the year and wish your business every success in the future,” Elaine added.
Cheques can be addressed to Ann Casey, treasurer Ballyporeen Community Council, Church Street, Ballyporeen, Co Tipperary.
