BOOTS TO OPEN IN MITCHELSTOWN
Negotiations have been completed and it has been confirmed to The Avondhu that the Boots Pharmacy chain will be opening a pharmacy at the new Livinghealth Clinic in Mitchelstown, writes Brian Moore.
The move has caused some concern for the three pharmacies already in Mitchelstown with fears that with all seven local doctors and a pharmacy under one roof their business will be adversely affected.
Dr Tom O’Callaghan spokesman for the Livinghealth Clinic said: “We are happy to have Boots as part of the centre and look forward to the centre opening and providing the best possible health care service for the people of this region.”
When asked if he felt the new pharmacy, given its location with all seven of the local doctors, was unfair competition to the three pharmacies already in Mitchelstown Dr O’Callaghan replied that he had no comment on this matter.
The medical centre will see the seven GPs practicing in Mitchelstown bringing their practices together under one roof. The centre will also include a cafe, opticians, a full membership gymnasium with personal training and specialist sports injury clinic and a pharmacy.
By way of introduction to the new clinic’s layout and services, an open day will take place on this Saturday, November 22 from 10am-2pm. The day will include a blessing at 10am by Father Michael Fitzgerald followed by introductions to staff and tours of the clinic.
The aim of the open day is to answer questions from the community and highlight how the Livinghealth Clinic can make a positive impact on the community.
