Ballygiblin School Reunion this weekend
Ballygiblin National School reunion and Ballygiblin GAA reunion for teams of 1963/1993 takes place on this Friday and Saturday. Past pupils are invited to attend a special Mass in the old school on Friday night at 9pm. This will be followed by the reunion's official opening.
A powerpoint display of school and hurling photos will be held in the old school from 2-6pm on Saturday, combined with a genealogy session followed by a tour of the old Kilbehenny graveyard.
Many hurling games will be held on Saturday, starting with the Johnny Connors Cup juvenile blitz between Ballysaggart, Skeheenarinky, Ballygiblin and Lismore while the Big Jim Moher Cup will be played by the U16s. A faction fight match/ultra skills test contest is planned for Saturday at 2pm and later that night at The Firgrove Hotel, there will be a massive rendition of culture by Mitchelstown Comhaltas. This will be followed by a presentation of scrolls to Ballygiblin '63 and '93 winning teams by Jerry O’Sullivan former county chairman. Music will follow from Oliver & Tony.
Genealogy Course
A 3 hour course, open to all levels, will explain the methodology behind genealogy and show you what to do in order to do your own research, how to locate census, church, civil and land records; show you how genealogy sources are available online and offline for Irish family research.
