DOORS LOCKED AS WORKERS REJECT 4HOMES OFFER
Workers at the 4Homes Stores in Mitchelstown and Fermoy have been told by management to accept the latest redundancy offer on the table from the company and that their jobs with 4HomeStores are now officially at an end.
The ultimatum came as the workers rejected the offer of three and a half week’s pay for every year worked as a redundancy package that was offered by the company.
“The offer is nowhere near the Labour Court’s recommendation, the staff have given over 200 years of combined loyal service to the company and this is how they treat us. We want what the Labour Court recommended and we are angry and annoyed that management are refusing to honour this,” one staff member told The Avondhu.
Staff who had continued to turn up for work at the 4Homes Stores in Mitchelstown were told that as from Monday last the doors to the store would be locked and that there would be no work for them with the company. A meeting was held with the staff and management on Tuesday where it is understood that discussions centered on conditions for part-time staff.
“We are waiting for management to get back to us about certain aspects of the redundancy package,” one staff member told The Avondhu.
