DRAGON S DEN STAR INVESTS TIME IN MITCHELSTOWN
The appearance next week of prospective presidential candidate and RTE Dragon’s Den investor, Sean Gallagher as the keynote speaker at The Way Forward, a business seminar in Mitchelstown, is expected to arouse considerable local interest.
Hosted by the Mitchelstown Forum, the event, which takes place at The Firgrove Hotel on Wednesday, May 18, will focus on the local business community coming together with budding entrepreneurs and business students to hear from those who have achieved success by ‘going it on their own’.
POSITIVE RESPONSE
Speaking to The Avondhu this week, Mitchelstown business development manager, Siobhan Finn, whose idea it was to seek the services of Mr Gallagher, said that she is delighted with the response to the initiative.
“The event is selling well and I am confident of a very good turnout on the night. It is being funded to the tune of 75% by the Regional Development Programme through Ballyhoura Development Ltd and the remaining costs will be covered by takings on the door,” Siobhan Finn said.
“My goal is to open up such expertise and advice to many who would not otherwise have access to hearing people like Sean Gallagher speak and to provide a stimulating and motivating environment for the business people of Mitchelstown. I believe that May 18th could mark the beginning of the tide of change for the town with a positive attitude embraced by all going forward.”
PASSIONATE SUPPORTER
Sean Gallagher, who announced his intention to seek a nomination to contest the presidential election on last Friday’s Late Late Show on RTE, is a passionate supporter and campaigner for entrepreneurs and small business owners.
He believes that they will play a crucial role in the revival of Ireland’s economy and the creation of employment.
One of the most respected and highly sought-after motivational speakers in the country, it is claimed that the Dragon’s Den investor inspires and motivates with his knowledge on leadership, business, entrepreneurship and personal success.
His keynote speech at the Mitchelstown event will be followed by Theresa Mulvihill of Smart Marketing Ltd who will focus on practical pointers for business success in the current climate.
As managing director of Smart Marketing, Theresa’s mission is to assist micro businesses and SME’s in dealing with the marketing challenges that they are faced with, triggered by the current economic climate.
BOOKING RECOMMENDED
Finally, Daithi O’Regan who founded www.handcrafthurleys.com in April 2010 following an appearance on RTE’S Dragon’s Den will present a talk on the successes of his business to date.
Handcraft Hurleys is an Internet one-stop shop for selling Irish-made hurleys. Over 150,000 hurleys were imported into Ireland during 2010 and Daithi aims to replace these imports with an Irish made product, while at the same time building a business and generating employment opportunities.
He won the most promising entrepreneur in the 2010 First-step programme and has recently been selected as one of the top ten companies for the ENDEAVOUR programme. Each speaker will participate in a question and answer session during the course of the evening.
A cover charge of €10.00 applies (€5 for students and the unemployed) and booking is recommended. Registration will take place at 5.30pm and further information can be acquired by contacting Siobhan Finn, development manager, Mitchelstown on 086-2872286.
