EARLY DAYS BUT PA IS ON THE MEND
There was good news from Australia this week for the family of Pa Fox from Cloughleafin outside Mitchelstown, writes Brian Moore.
Pa was seriously injured and left in a coma after he was allegedly attacked at a hotel in Randwick outside Sydney. His parents Breda and Gerry left Ireland to be at his bedside and are delighted to report that Pa is awake and alert.
“We still have a way to go but Pa is making progress every day and we are delighted to hear the news from Australia. Our parents are with him and he knows they are there, “Trish Caplice, Pa’s sister told The Avondhu.
Pa was admitted to the intensive care unit at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with serious head and brain injuries and underwent emergency surgery. The Australian police arrested a 19 year old man and he is to appear in court on April 13.
The assault on Pa Fox came just months after two other attacks in the Randwick area left another Corkman David Keohane in a coma for seven months and caused the death of Gearoid Walsh from Dublin.
“It’s early days yet and we don’t have any word as to when Pa can come home but at least now we know now that he is getting better,” Trish Caplice said.
