EVERYONE A WINNER AT TENNIS CLUB CASINO NIGHT
Blackjack and roulette tables covered the main banqueting room of The Firgrove Hotel for last Friday’s casino night – a fundraising event organized by Mitchelstown Tennis Club. Hard pressed clubs and voluntary groups are always on the look out for novel money making schemes and Mitchelstown Tennis Club hit on the casino night as a source of much needed income.
The organising committee put in a big effort and were rewarded with a fine crowd who were up for a bit of high stakes gambling. Anyone afraid of losing their shirt needn’t have worried as there was no ‘real’ money won or lost on the night.
The real money was taken at the door and during the raffle. When expenses were deducted the club managed to return a tidy profit. Local companies were encouraged to come on board with sponsorship and this they did.
As always the club are extremely grateful for vital financial support and as promised Hodgins Sausages provided the food. Fresh from their very successful summer camp it’s all go for the coming months as players enter the serious end of the South Tipperary League.
The club is also making a sustained effort to get more young people involved and anyone interested in taking up the game will be made feel more than welcome. Further enquiries about any aspect of club activity can be had by contacting the club mobile on 087-9447387.
