FUNDRAISER SOLD OUT IN TWO HOURS!
Such was the amazing response to last week’s front page article on The Avondhu regarding a special fundraiser for Somalia, scheduled for O’Callaghan’s Delicatessen on Thursday next (August 25th), that seats were pre-booked and paid for within two hours before the tickets for the charity fundraiser were even printed!
Pat and Mary of O’Callaghan’s Delicatessen and Kathleen O’Brien are disappointed that they are unable to accommodate all those who wanted tickets and would like to express their thanks for the generosity of friends and customers.
“The Somalian famine has grabbed everyone’s attention because we live in a global village and there is something obscene in watching starving children dying before our eyes,” Kathleen told The Avondhu this week.
The staff and suppliers at O’Callaghan’s Delicatessen are giving their foods and their time free to make a difference. You can be a part of this project by donating to GOAL at the restaurant any time until the close of business on August 25.
The final sum raised will be published in The Avondhu and all proceeds will go straight to GOAL’s workers in Somalia.
“We’re doing it for the babies,” Mary O’Callaghan, whose dedicated team will be working flat out on the night, said this week.
