INDIE-PENDENCE SET TO ROCK MITCHELSTOWN THIS WEEKEND
The Mitchelstown Indie-Pendence festival will return to the New Square for a third consecutive August bank holiday this weekend with its strongest line-up yet.
With a billing that includes Ballyporeen’s Gemma Hayes, Cathy Davey, Ham Sandwich, Fight Like Apes, The Blizzards, The Flaws and more, the festival has an abundance of award winners to keep all entertained over Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
The weekend comes after what has been a difficult year for organisers, with a major drinks sponsor pulling out deep into planning for the festival.
The event was dealt a further blow when it was recently refused a drinks licence for a proposed festival bar that would have proved a lucrative money spinner for the weekend.
The Avondhu is an official media partner of the event. See next week’s issue for photographs, reports and interviews from the festival.
