Indiependence to bring up to 5,000 people to Mitchelstown
All fingers are crossed for good weather this weekend, as the Indiependence organisers are hoping the sun will shine on them for the biggest annual event in Mitchelstown.
Organiser Shane Dunne told The Avondhu that tickets are selling very well, but some will be available at the gate over the weekend.
Compared to last year, the heatwave over the past few weeks is a blessing for the festival, as the field itself is quite dry in comparison to last year.
"The forecast is pretty decent and we've put in a lot of drainage and mats and we have had a month of very dry weather in our favour. Last year, we had four months of very heavy rain and it had nowhere to go, but this year with the dry weather it will be much better," Shane said.
He added that all of the organisers are from the town, stressing that they want the town to benefit from the festival and the visitors it brings to Mitchelstown. Alot of businesses are doing promotions or decorating their windows to tie in with the festival weekend.
Shane said that they have sold more tickets than they had this time last year and in the lead up to the weekend, they will be putting safety and parking advice up on Twitter, Facebook and their website.
Indiependence takes place from Friday August 2 until Sunday August 4 with five stages and the line up includes Bastille, Kodaline, The Fratellis, Ryan Sheridan, Bell X1 and more. Tickets are €79 for the three days or €99 with camping.
