KITTY FOR QUEEN AS FESTIVAL OF THE GALTEES DRAWS NEAR
Plans are being finalised for the annual Festival of the Galtees in Mitchelstown which will open on Friday, May 30th and continue on to bank holiday Monday, June 2nd with fun all the way.
This is the 33rd year of the popular festival and as usual proceeds will go towards the upkeep and maintenance of Tearmann Ui Chaoimh, the sheltered housing development in the town which is a fitting testament to successive committees and the generosity of locals Kitty Boland, representing T.O. Park, who nominated the outgoing queen, Peg Fitzgerald, a worthy ambassador for the committee, is now campaigning herself for this year’s contest.
Each vote costs €1 and you’re asked to be generous in support of Kitty and the festival. There is a prize fund of €500 to be won. The Festival of the Galtee’s committee wish to thank Kitty and her team for taking part in this community orientated event.
Tickets are available from committee members or Kitty and members of her campaign team. The usual favourite events will be included in this year’s programme with one of the highlights being the ‘Culchie’ contest on closing night. You can enter now by contacting any committee member.
