LANDMARK PUB SERVES LAST PINT
Another famous north Cork landmark pub will close its doors for the last time this weekend, writes Brian Moore.
The well known Glocca Maura Inn will serve its last pint on Sunday night as leaseholder, Tom Dalton finally calls time at the pub on the old Mitchelstown to Fermoy road.
“It’s a sign of the times really but there was no other choice but to go and try something else,” Tom told The Avondhu.
The Glocca Maura, known to many locals as ‘Gloccas’, will now join the long list of rural pubs across the country that have fallen victim to the economic situation, new drink-driving laws and the low cost alcohol sales at retail outlets.
