LOCAL SCHOOLS TOP OF THE CLASS
It seems that if you are looking for one of the best educations in Ireland you need look no further than the schools of North Cork.
Indeed, when it comes to achieving high points and college places, in Mitchelstown alone you have a choice of not one, but two that are rated in the top one hundred schools in Ireland.
A report recently published, put Presentation Secondary School in Mitchelstown at number 21, a jump of 18 places from 2008. Also mentioned was the CBS Secondary School as it was ranked at number 56 on the list.
“This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of the staff and students. We are delighted to have been placed first in the Cork region for non fee paying schools and the staff would like to congratulate the students on their achievements to date and to wish them well in their future careers,” Presentation Secondary School, Mitchelstown principal, Anne Kirke told The Avondhu.
When it comes to the top girls schools Presentation Secondary School in Mitchelstown is in the top 20 at number 14 while CBS Secondary School, Mitchelstown was also in the top 20 in Ireland at number 12.
Other North Cork schools in the top one hundred included Loreto Secondary School in Fermoy at number 85 and the Patrician Academy in Mallow at number 87.
