MAJOR DISTURBANCE IN BALLYPOREEN
Gardai from Mitchelstown, Clogheen and Ballyporeen  responded to a major disturbance outside a licensed premises in the  normally quiet village of Ballyporeen on Sunday night last, writes Brian  Moore.
Local sources have reported up to 30 people were  involved in a fracas which left some people needing medical attention.  A  spokesperson for An Gardai Siochana said that they were investigating  the incident.
“We are investigating an incident that involved a  disturbance between two groups that occurred in a public house in  Ballyporeen on Sunday night last, October 17. No arrests have been made  to date,” Sergeant Gerry Curley of Garda HQ in Dublin told The Avondhu. 
Unconfirmed reports say that the incident occurred in  a local licensed premises and then continued outside the pub as the two  groups attacked each other on the main street.
“I never saw anything like it. There were men and  women fighting and I saw one man with blood on his head,” a Ballyporeen  resident, who does not wish to be named, told The Avondhu.
