MITCHELSTOWN BROADBAND OUTAGE HITS BUSINESSES
Businesses and households in Mitchelstown were victims of a broadband outage for over 26 hours last week. The town was offline on Thursday October 20 and also for a period of Friday, October 21.
Eircom claimed that around 120 businesses and households were affected by the outage but unconfirmed information obtained from a reliable technical source indicated that the amount of homes and businesses affected was much higher.
Clare O’Riordan, PRO of eircom released the following statement apologising to those affected: “Eircom wishes to apologise to our customers for the disruption to their broadband service over the last 24 hours in the Mitchelstown area. The outage was caused by a technology fault in the local exchange. Eircom engineers worked late into the night to repair the fault which affected approximately 120 customers.
