MITCHELSTOWN DEATH NOT SUSPICIOUS
Residents in St Fanahan’s Place, Mitchelstown were shocked to find garda forensic units entering one of the homes there on Monday morning last, writes Brian Moore.
Gardai cordoned off a house after a neighbour found a 49 year-old man, named locally as Jerry (‘Kaiser’) Lane, dead at the scene.
“The man was pronounced dead by a doctor and there were injuries to the body. Gardai preserved the scene and treated the incident as suspicious,” Inspector Tony O’Sullivan told The Avondhu.
Dr Margaret Bolster, state pathologists, arrived and carried out an examination at the scene.
“A postmortem was conducted at Cork University Hospital and, as a result of these findings, the gardai are no longer treating the incident as suspicious,” Inspector O’Sullivan concluded.
