MITCHELSTOWN FORMULA 1 TEAM STRIKES GOLD
The St Fanahan’s F1 team has struck gold and they’re on their way to the All-Ireland finals of the schools formula one racing competition, writes Brian Moore. At the regional heats, the St Fanahan’s team took the top awards for their website and also for advertising and marketing.
However, it was for the design and manufacture of their model F1 car that the team outplayed the other schools and their teams at the Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) this week.
“We have worked hard on this project over the last four months and now we are off to the next competition where we will be representing not only St Fanahan’s and Mitchelstown, but our region as well.
“We are all delighted and would like to thank all our sponsors for all their support and look forward to their continued support for the next round. I would also like to thank our teachers and family for all their encouragement and help.
“The team worked very hard and we are now looking forward to getting to the All-Ireland,” team manager, Kieran Caplice, told The Avondhu.
One official at the competition at CIT described the St Fanahan’s F1 car as an ‘aerodynamic revolution’. The fifth year St Fanahan’s students are now working hard to prepare for the next round of the All-Ireland competition, which will be held in Griffith College, Dublin on April 29.
The winners of which will go on to represent the country at the World Games in Singapore at the end of the year.
