MITCHELSTOWN SCHOOL MOVES TO IMPROVE LITERACY LEVELS
In a move to promote literacy in the school, St Fanahan’s College, Mitchelstown have recently embarked on an accelerated reading programme where each student in the junior cycle had an individual reading programme designed for him/her in order to best suit his/her needs.
JCSP co-ordinator, Darragh Connolly has set about introducing a number of initiatives to promote the use of the school library. Students are allocated time during the school week to read and are then quizzed when the books have been completed.
