MITCHELSTOWN SHOPS TO REWARD LOYAL CUSTOMERS
A novel plan to encourage people to shop locally is soon to get underway in Mitchelstown. Organised by the Mitchelstown Business Association (MBA), the project involves a voucher loyalty scheme that will be in place in many of the businesses in the town.
Ger Moylan of the MBA explained the idea behind the voucher scheme to The Avondhu; “This week MBA is launching the Mitchelstown Reward Card Scheme, the purpose of the scheme is to reward people and businesses for shopping in Mitchelstown. Through this initiative we are not trying to compete with other towns or venues, instead we are encouraging locals to wait until they return to Mitchelstown to make those small or indeed large daily purchases.
"This initiative proved a huge success in Tuam, Co. Galway earlier this year so we are not going it alone, it’s a tried and tested formula and all we need to do is support it,” Mr Moylan said.
MBA is asking retail outlets to register with the scheme, and by signing up, the retailer pledges to give a discount to participating members who present a completed Mitchelstown Reward Scheme Card. The discount available in participating outlets is at the discretion of the retailer and is advertised as such.
“While shopping, customers can collect their Mitchelstown Reward Scheme Card. Every time you make a purchase of €10 or more you will receive a stamp. Each card has ten stamps and, when the card is full, customers may redeem it in any participating outlet to receive the advertised discount and begin all over again with a new card.
"Concessions are only redeemable with completed Mitchelstown Reward Scheme Cards. To get the ball rolling all completed cards will be entered into 3 monthly draws for €100 each. A member of the MBA will call to retail outlets over the next two weeks to discuss the details and to assist in registration with the scheme.
“Remember it’s your town! Local shopping equates to local jobs. Love your town and thank you for shopping in Mitchelstown,” Ger Moylan concluded.
