MITCHELSTOWN YOUTH ROW IN BEHIND TOYS FOR TUBS INITIATIVE
This Christmas many families are facing hard times and with this in mind the young people at the Mitchelstown Youth Cafe have come up with a special Christmas appeal.
As a part of the Kool Christmas celebrations taking place in Mitchelstown on Friday, December 3 next, Mitchelstown Youth Cafe members are to staff the ‘Toys for Tubs’ drop off point which will be open at the vacant shop premises (formerly WJ Murphy’s camera shop), next door to The Avondhu office at 18 Lower Cork Street.
Santa will also be present to collect any letters children may have for him on the night and he has also been persuaded by Mitchelstown Youth Cafe, to pose for photographs with any willing children and adults.
Television and radio personality Ryan Tubridy has joined forces with the Society of St Vincent de Paul to spread the word of the ‘Giving Tree’ project, which is running throughout the country.
The aim of ‘Toys for Tubs’ is to make sure that no child is without a toy this Christmas morning. Santa Claus and his helpers from Mitchelstown Youth Cafe will be waiting between 5.30 and 8pm on Friday, December 3 to accept any new toys or vouchers that you may wish to donate.
The ‘Toys for Tubs’ appeal requires that all toys donated are new, unwrapped and are of a minimum value of €10.
Ryan Tubridy recommends that people should donate what they would like for themselves and family, but suggests against donating large size presents and highlights the suitability of ‘One for All’ vouchers and books for ease of transportation reasons.
An extra special night is assured for all those who come to Mitchelstown on Friday week but especially for those who visit Santa for the ‘Toys for Tubs’ appeal next door to The Avondhu Office.
