NEW MITCHELSTOWN PARKING SPACES MAKE THEIR MARK
Visitors and residents in Mitchelstown may have noticed over the last few days that cars parked on the main street now have their own individual parking spaces marked out.
Thanks to Cork County Council, Upper and Lower Cork Street now has individual parking spaces measuring 6 metres x 2 metres.
“The new markings will improve the parking situation in Mitchelstown and the work is now complete so we hope to see less double parking on the main street,” Cork County Council senior engineer, Brendan O’Gorman told The Avondhu.
Many retailers have welcomed the new parking spaces: “It certainly makes the street look a lot tidier. It should have a very positive effect on our customers and may ensure that cars aren’t parked in an awkward position on the road,” Una Fitzgerald said.
The new parking spaces are also set to enhance the two hours free parking system that is in operation in Mitchelstown.
