Those who attended the 46th annual general meeting of Mitchelstown Credit Union in The Firgrove Hotel recently were told their credit union had recorded an operating surplus of close on €1million along with a 1.8% growth in membership.
In the course of the evening, a tribute was paid to the late Ann Hickey, Ballylanders, who had served with distinction as a volunteer and staff member for over 20 years.
There were about 130 people present to hear president, Micheal O hAonghusa say that this year’s operating surplus was ‘a significant improvement on the previous year’ when the credit union showed an overall deficit in excess of €1.7million which had mainly arisen due to investment losses of €2,372,399.
