PREPARATIONS UNDER WAY IN KILBEHENNY FOR THE POTATO FESTIVAL
After last year’s very successful festival, the field is being prepared for what is predicted to be another bumper crop of ‘flowery spuds’ for the Kilbehenny Potato Festival 2011. Pat O’Connor and Mike Moloney worked late into the night to get the land ready for planting.
“We would like to thank Pat and Mike for all their hard work and we will be sowing the spuds over the next few days. This is a community effort and we would invite everybody to come along and help, especially the kids. We would also like to thank the owner of the field, Noel Bradfield and we are looking forward to another great festival this year,” Moss Fitzgerald of Kilbehenny Community Council told The Avondhu.
After last year’s extravaganza the organizers of the Kilbehenny Potato Festival will have their work cut out but Moss is confident that this year will be another great year for Kilbehenny.
“We are working on this year’s festival at the moment and once we get the spuds planted we will be announcing just what will be on offer in Kilbehenny later in the year,” Moss concluded.
