ROAD OPENING WILL FREE UP TRAFFIC
The opening on Friday, July 25 of the N8 Cashel/Mitchelstown bypass scheme is expected to take thousands of vehicles each day off a stretch of road from the Carrigane interchange south of Kilbehenny to the Cloughabreeda interchange approximately 2km beyond the N24 roundabout near Cahir.
The Minister of State at the Department of Finance, Dr Martin Mansergh TD, is scheduled to perform the official opening at 11am on Friday, July 25.
To coincide with the opening, the local Community Centre committee in Kilbehenny is set to turn back the years to depict the village as it used to look in the 1940s and 50s with a special parade and other events the same evening.
The group plans to turn back the clock for just one day as a reminder of how things used to be.
