SHOCK OVER TRAGIC FARM ACCIDENT
The community of Kilcruig, Kilfinane is still in a state of shock this week after the untimely death following a horror farm accident of local man, Liam Drake.
Mr Drake (65) was badly injured when he collided with an electric fence while he was working on his farm in Kilcruig last week. It is believed that the unfortunate victim came in contact with the fence when he was driving a quad bike through a field on his land.
It is reported that Liam sustained severe injuries to his neck and head in the accident but still managed to make his way back to his home where members of his family raised the alarm.
He was then rushed the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick, where he died on Friday, June 17.
The high esteem in which Liam Drake was held was reflected in the large gathering that attended the removal of his remains to St. Joseph’s Church, Ballyorgan and also afterwards at burial in Kildorrery Cemetery.
Mr Drake is survived by his wife Maureen, his son Liam and his three daughters Tronia, Marie and Ailish.
The Avondhu extends its heartfelt sympathy to his wife and family. May he rest in peace.
