STAG PARK CAR BLAZE COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE
Two units of the Mitchelstown Fire Brigade rushed to Stag Park early on Tuesday morning of this week to deal with a car on fire.
Residents were woken up when they heard an explosion at around 2.50am on Tuesday morning.
“There was a loud bang and when I got out of bed to see what was going on. There was a car on fire on the road,” one resident told The Avondhu.
Fire fighters, using breathing apparatus, quickly brought the blaze under control. “This could have been a lot worse, the petrol in the car exploded and we were lucky that the flames didn’t spread to any other building or vehicles in the area,” fire fighter, Micheal Carolan told The Avondhu.
The cause of the fire is unknown but gardai from Mitchelstown are investigating. Anyone with information about this incident are asked to contact Mitchelstown Garda Station on 025-84833.
