UNIONS CONFIDENT OF SUCCESSFUL OUTCOME ON 4HOMES REDUNDANCIES
Unions representing 20 workers who lost their jobs at the 4HomeStores in Mitchelstown, and Fermoy attended a sitting of the Labour Court last week.
While judgment in the case has yet to be announced a Mandate Union rep, just one of the unions representing the workers, is confident that the case for an increase in redundancy pay will be successful.
“We are awaiting the ruling but we are happy with the way the meeting in the Labour Court went. The judge expressed his dissatisfaction with the way the company has treated the workers and we are confident of a positive outcome,” Dan O’Malley of Mandate told The Avondhu.
It is expected that the Labour Court’s recommendation will be announced within the next few weeks.
Meanwhile, workers will continue to be paid by the 4HomeStores. A spokesperson for 4HomeStores told The Avondhu that the company would not be making any comments at this time.
